The Danger of Our Lukewarm Condition

The reason why we find it so difficult to become Christian is because we are so divided- Our life is not fully given to God…..The reason why our church remains in Laodicean state is because we are so divided. Half the Lords and half the world’s. I was very slow to learn this truth. I grew up in an Adventist family were secular music, TV entertainment shows, Hollywood movies and other worldly activities are only not allowed on Sabbath. I can still remember how often we rushed our evening worship so we can watch action movies. We were so divided! We live a double lifestyle. We look very holy only on Sabbath days, but there is no difference with the world on other days! Take note of what Ellen White says,

 

 

 

"The church is in the Laodicean state. The presence of God is not in her midst. If Christ were formed within, the hope of glory, conformity to His image would be seen, and the church trials which separate the members from Christ would disappear." 1NL 99

 

 

The Great Outpouring of the Latter Rain Will Only Happen When We Have the Entire Consecration to God.

 

“The great outpouring of the Spirit of God, which lightens the whole earth with His glory, will not come until we have an enlightened people, that know by experience what it means to be laborers together with God. When we have entire, wholehearted consecration to the service of Christ, God will recognize the fact by an outpouring of His Spirit without measure; but this will not be while the largest portion of the church are not laborers together with God.” ChS 253

 

 

 

God Will Not Accept Partial Surrender

 

“God will accept nothing less than unreserved surrender. Half-hearted, sinful Christians can never enter heaven. There they would find no happiness, for they know nothing of the high, holy principles that govern the members of the royal family. The true Christian keeps the windows of the soul open heavenward. He lives in fellowship with Christ.” LDE 192

 

 

 

The Lord Cannot Perform a Mighty Work Because Church Members Are Not Converted and Many Others Have Backslidden.

 

“The Lord does not now work to bring many souls into the truth, because of the church members who have never been converted and those who were once converted but who have backslidden. What influence would these unconsecrated members have on new converts? Would they not make of no effect the God-given message which His people are to bear?” 6T 370

 

 

He Cannot Accept a Divided Heart

 

“God gave all for man, and He asks him to place His service above every earthly and selfish consideration. He cannot accept a divided heart. The heart that is absorbed in earthly affections cannot be given up to God.” COL 223

 

“God will not be trifled with; He will not accept a divided heart. He claims entire, wholehearted service.” OHC 101

 

 

 

“Until the soul-temple is fully surrendered to God, it is the stronghold of the enemy.” RH, Nov. 28, 1899

 

 

 

Cooperate with God by Placing Ourselves Wholly on His Side

 

“If we stand in the great day of the Lord with Christ as our refuge, our high tower, we must put away all envy, all strife for the supremacy. We must utterly destroy the roots of these unholy things, that they may not again spring up into life. We must place ourselves wholly on the side of the Lord. Let Christians put away all dissension and give themselves to God for the saving of the lost. Let them ask in faith for the promised blessing, and it will come.”  LDE 190,191

 

 

 

 Our Time in the World is Short

 

“What I mean, brothers, is that the time is short......”1 Cor. 7:29

 

"The sealing time is very short, and will soon be over. Now is the time, while the four angels are holding the four winds, to make our calling and election sure." EW 58

 

“The time is near when large cities will be swept away, and all should be warned of these coming judgments.” Ev 29

 

 

 

“Just as soon as we separate ourselves from God by sin, which is the transgression of his law, Satan takes control of our minds. We want to seek earnestly to draw near to God.” Review and Herald July 12, 1887

 

 

 

We Are Not Yet Ready of the Great Distress Which is Soon to Come

 

“1 After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth, that no wind might blow on earth or sea or against any tree. 2 Then I saw another angel ascending from the rising of the sun, with the seal of the living God, and he called with a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm earth and sea, 3  saying, “Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees, until we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.” Rev. 7:1-3

 

 

 

“I saw greater distress in the land than we have yet witnessed. I heard groans and cries of distress, and saw large companies in active battle. I heard the booming of the cannon, the clash of arms, the hand-to-hand fight, and the groans and prayers of the dying. The ground was covered with the wounded and the dead. I saw desolate, despairing families, and pinching want in many dwellings. Even now many families are suffering want, but this will increase. The faces of many looked haggard, pale, and pinched with hunger. ……God's people must take warning and discern the signs of the times. The signs of Christ's coming are too plain to be doubted, and in view of these things everyone who professes the truth should be a living preacher. God calls upon all, both preachers and people, to awake. All heaven is astir. The scenes of earth's history are fast closing. We are amid the perils of the last days.” 1T 260
