“For You are my hope, O Lord God; You are my trust from my youth.” Psalm 71:5
The Bible says in Psalm 71:5 that God is your hope and your trust, and He's been with you since you were young. Just like Proverbs 23:26 tells us, Jesus is calling out to everyone who's lost, saying "Give me your heart, my son." You can't be truly happy without Jesus' love. Ellen White says, “The youth cannot be happy without the love of Jesus.” The Signs of the Times, January 19, 1882.
Jesus is waiting patiently and kindly to hear you confess when you mess up, and He'll forgive you. It's like a mother waiting for her child's smile – that's how much He cares. The amazing God tells us to call Him "Father." He wants you to know how deeply He loves you through all your troubles and temptations.
As a young person, you should always be growing closer to God and learning more about Him. The Bible says in Proverbs 2:2 that the Creator, who has all wisdom, promises to guide you throughout your youth. The one who defeated all evil forces for you wants your love and devotion. There's nothing more important than knowing God – knowing Him truly brings life and peace. There's no purer or deeper love than the love of your Savior, Jesus Christ.
There are many temptations out there trying to trip you up. There will be other young people who don't follow God and will try to get you to do bad things with them. They're like Satan's helpers. People who love the world might seem friendly at first, but they'll try to get you to follow their ways. Be a strong soldier for God and resist these temptations!
The Bible tells us in Ephesians 6:11 that Satan will attack your weaknesses, but you don't have to lose! It might be a tough fight, but God promises to help you, and with His strength, you can win. Ellen White says, “Satan attacks us at our weak points; but we need not be overcome. The assault may be severe and protracted, but God has promised help for us, and in His strength we may conquer.... The precepts and promises of God's word will arm you with divine power to resist the enemy.... Satan will be baffled and defeated when he finds the heart preoccupied with the truth of God. We need also to be often found at the throne of grace. Earnest, persevering prayer, uniting our human weakness to Omnipotence, will give us the victory.” The Signs of the Times, January 19, 1882.
The promises in the Bible and the Holy Spirit will give you God's power to fight the enemy. If you fill your heart with God's truth, Satan won't be able to hurt you. Also, pray often! By sincerely asking God for help, you combine your weakness with His amazing power, and that will give you victory.
Think about it: What are some temptations you face in your life?
Plan it out: How can you resist these temptations?
